The RiceCure app was developed in response to the challenges faced by rice farmers in San Jose, Calamba,
Laguna, particularly diseases like rice leaf blight that threaten crop yields. Climate change,
smog from Taal Volcano, and limited government support further complicated rice production.
To address these issues, RiceCure provides early and accurate disease detection with tailored
treatment recommendations, helping farmers improve crop management and sustain their livelihoods.
This study was also our entry into the PUP Hackathon: UtHack ang Puhunan, hosted by the PUP Research Institute for Strategic Foresight
and Innovation (RISFI). Out of 32 participants, we placed in the Top 10 finalists, advancing to the next development phase.
While we didn’t secure a final spot, it was a valuable learning experience and a step toward agricultural innovation
